Staying connected on Emirates has changed significantly in 2026. While older aircraft still use the Skywards-based system, the new Starlink rollout now offers high-speed, 100% free internet for everyone on select flights.
| Aircraft Type | System | Cost | How to Connect |
|---|---|---|---|
| New A350 & Retrofitted 777 | Starlink | FREE for all | One-click (No login needed) |
| Most A380 & Older 777 | OnAir | Paid / Skywards | Skywards Login or Credit Card |
Most Emirates aircraft (Airbus A380 and Boeing 777) use the OnAir network. Follow these steps once the aircraft reaches cruising altitude (usually above 10,000 feet).

Starting in late 2025 and continuing through 2026, Emirates is retrofitting its fleet with SpaceX'sStarlink.
Why can't I see the Emirates Wi-Fi network?
WiFi only turns on above 10,000 feet (about 15 minutes after takeoff). If you are in Chinese or Indian airspace, the signal may temporarily drop due to local regulations.
Can I switch from my phone to my laptop?
Yes. Log out on your phone first, then use the same Skywards/Payment credentials on your laptop. Most plans only allow one device at a time.
Is the WiFi fast enough for YouTube?
On Starlink flights, yes (4K quality). On older OnAir flights, it is best for emails and social media; YouTube will likely buffer.
Download the FlyFi App before you fly to check your aircraft's specific WiFi capabilities and get live troubleshooting while you're in the air.
